James Jake, Oswald Metcalfe, Robert Beckwith and Jane his wife granted tenements here (Coverham) in 1585 to Thomas Ripley with warrant against Mary wife of Oswald, Humphrey Orme and Cecily (Yorks Fines, Tudors [Yorks. Arch. Soc.], iii, 47), and in 1597 and and 1602 Henry Horner and others conveyed tenements here to Christopher Croft with warrant against the heirs of Thomas Ripley (ibid. iv, 70, 189).
