She was a daughter of Simeon Lyon, one of the original settlers of Naples, New York.[36] Ira was a cabinet maker. From the Neapolitan Record, July 28, 1886: "He was born in New Paltz, Ulster Co, NY, March 19th, 1807 and came to the town of Prattsburgh with his father at an early age. At 13 years of age he commenced a seven year apprenticeship at Prattsburgh Village, and just before he was of age commenced business in Naples. On the 23rd of December, 1828 he married Betsey Lyon, one of the daughters of Simeon Lyon an early setter of this town and he survived her twelve years; together they reared to manhood six sons and graves of the three are decorated at the annual return of Memorial Day, and three survive, S. L Deyo, G.C. Deyo of Naples and Ira N Deyo of Honeoye. Three half sisters in the adjoining county of Steuben also survive him. As was justly said on the funeral occasion, Mr. Deyo was a liberal and just man, one had helped build up the village when in his prime and his good works are numerous and lasting all around us."[37]

Roman Catholic, joiner, lived at St. Bernard, Lacolle, Quebec.[186] According to Wilfred Deyo[187] 'Joseph Yon was born around the year 1805. His parents, Ignace Yon (Guyon) and Marie Suzanne Gervais were of the Parish of St. Marc sur Richelieu. It is believed Joseph lived in the area of St. Marc until his marriage at about the age of twenty three. He was a furniture maker of legal age when he married Julienne Denys, daughter of Ignace Denys and Julie Fall. The marriage took place on June 22, 1828 in the parish of St. Cyprien of Napierville, Quebec, Canada. The Canada East Census of 1842 lists a Joseph Deo of Rouville, St. Georges de Clarenceville, Quebec, which is in the vicinity of Lacolle. The Census shows seven people in this family. It is believed that Joseph Yon/Deyo migrated to the United States from the area of Lacolle, Quebec, Canada around the mid 1850’s and settled in the area of Altona/Sciota in Clinton County, New York where he lived until his death sometimes after the year 1880.'
