68. Joseph [Joseph^3rd, Henry^2nd, Robert^1st], b Jul 29, 1838 d 1887. m Dec 3, 1862 Sarah Morris, b Jan 24, 1841 in Nova Scotia. She was a daughter of Jacob and Mary (Ibbertson) Morris of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Joseph remained with his father until he was sixteen-and-a-half years of age, when he 'began to serve an apprenticeship in wagon-making'. In 1871 he became interested in farming and moved to Brant County, Ontario, where he remained for eight years. He then moved to Kent County, Ontario and settled in Harwich Township on a rented farm. In 1887 he bought one hundred acres in Camden Township, where he farmed until 1901. He then divided the land between his two eldest sons and moved to Dresden, Ontario.[62]

Mary and Walter were raised by George Edward Bent and Thomasin's sister, Celia Bent.

52. 'George lived in Amherst, N.S. after they sold the farm to pay for his brother's education. He was never very strong. When a neighbour came down with smallpox and there was no one to take care of him, George went into the house and nursed him back to health. He then contracted the disease himself and died'.

He married Elizabeth Brawn and had several children born in Lubec, one of which was George King who I believe lived as George Ripley, married and fathered three children (one of which was "Abbirt), and then moved to Massachusetts where he died as George King.

She'd been in Canada for 50 years at her death in 1954 and in New Waterford for 40 which puts her there in 1914 about when she would have married Robert Salter. I also remember my mother told me that Robert's new wife was barely older than Robert's eldest daughters so the age would be about right.
